Where do you do the cleaning?


NY Drapery Care offers a comprehensive service which includes removal and reinstallation of your Luminette privacy sheers for cleaning in our workroom. If you need to store your Luminettes while you paint or renovate just tell us and we will coordinate the reinstallation with the completion of your other projects.



Who will take down my Luminettes?


If you are about to start a renovation project please DO NOT let your contractor take down your Luminettes™ but instead call us to remove them before the dirty work starts. 


We know how to remove your Luminettes from their mounting hardware without damaging them, however, if an unknowing contractor folds or otherwise manhandles the fabric, permanent damage will often result.


Depending on your needs, we will install temporary pleated paper shades in those windows where maintaining privacy is a must while your Luminette privacy sheers are out being cleaned.

What should I expect from cleaning?

We strongly recommend that you have your window treatments removed prior to other contractors starting their jobs

The sheer portion of your Luminettes will look fresh once we remove the years of soot and dust that have been clinging to it. The vanes, the part of the shade that you have been using to control the amount of light that enters the room, will also clean up well. The only exception we run across, especially in Manhattan, is some permanent soot discoloration on the backside of the vane, the side that faces out the window and not into the room.
