Why Choose a Specialized Drapery Cleaning Service?
In New York's competitive cleaning landscape, carpet and rug cleaners often offer onsite drapery and shade cleaning at surprisingly low prices, however these services often lack the knowledge and specialized care that high-end window treatments require. At NY Drapery Care we can offer our customers the most appropriate cleaning process for their specific needs be it at our workroom or onsite.
Why Specialized Care Matters:
- Expertise in Fabrics: High-end draperies often need specialized handling to avoid damage or shrinkage. Unlike general cleaners, we understand the nuances of different materials, from silks to synthetics.
- Tailored Cleaning Solutions: We provide personalized cleaning based on fabric type and condition. For example, synthetic sheers are immersed in specially designed tubs, while delicate, lined fabrics are rehung in our workroom and dry-cleaned by hand. The fabric is never put in a machine where it could be damaged or shrink.
- Eco-Friendly Methods: Our use of eco-friendly solutions ensures safe cleaning without harsh chemicals, aligning with the preferences of environmentally conscious clients. We use 100% eco-friendly solutions manufactured by GreenEarth Cleaning. When appropriate we can even use a non-chemical cleaning process using dry vapor steam.
- The Right Time to Call Us: As a specialty cleaner we collaborate with customers and their interior designers for removal, storage, and reinstallation, especially during renovations. We encourage you to reach out before any renovation work begins. This allows us to manage your window treatments with care, avoiding the common mishandling mistakes caused by well-intentioned but inexperienced contractors.
Case Study: We recently cleaned sheer Roman shades for a client that hadn't cleaned them in the 10 years since they were originally installed. The amount of soot and dust buildup was significant. Since the Roman shades were made from a synthetic sheer fabric we were able to immerse them in the very wide tubs we designed for this purpose. Not all fabrics are suited for this method. Lined or natural fiber fabrics require careful dry cleaning done by hand to avoid damage.
In this case we were able to immerse our client’s Roman shades to thoroughly remove the years of embedded soot. The easiest way to see just how laden with soot the fabric had become is to see what was left in the tub after we drained it. Even we were amazed at how soiled the fabric had become over the years!
