Duette™ Cleaning
Duettes™ are Hunter Douglas’ version of what is commonly known as honeycomb shades. These shades are offered in a large selection of fabrics, some of which are more serviceable than others.
Where will you clean my Duette shades?
All of our cleaning is done at our workroom where we make use of specially designed cleaning tables and tubs to safely and thoroughly clean and rinse the fabrics. Our process is much more thorough than any onsite cleaning service possibly could be given the limitations of what can be done in the home.
If you like, we will install temporary shades in those windows where maintaining privacy is a must while your shades are out being cleaned.
How well will my Duette shades clean?
The basic Duette™ shade is made of a fabric that has the feel of filter paper. These fabrics can be cleaned thoroughly and come out very well, however older soot covered shades may still show some permanent discoloration post-cleaning. Some Duettes™ are made from a stiffer, more fibrous weave that cleans very well even if they are very soiled.
Duette shades sometimes are made from fabrics with a room darkening feature that will make the fabric more opaque and is often used in bedrooms. Room darkening fabrics are manufactured by laminating 2 fabrics together to create a more opaque fabric. The glues that are used are water soluble so it is imperative that the fabric is not saturated in water during cleaning otherwise the fabrics will separate and the Duette™ will be permanently damaged (never ultrasonically clean room darkening Duettes™).
Clean or replace?
When we inspect the shades we will tell you clearly what you can expect from cleaning. We tend to under promise and over deliver, so if we think the shades are too foregone to achieve the results you expect we will always tell you in advance.
If you decide that you prefer to replace your Duettes we can help with your purchase. We can bring the latest Hunter Douglas sample books from which you can choose while we measure the windows. Once the new shades arrive we will return and install them.
